I don’t think I’ve ever revealed this bit of trivia in this blog before: I went to college to be a high school math teacher. I have a major in mathematics and a minor in secondary education. And on rare occasion I actually get to use my math education in my current job. But I won’t give you any examples for fear you might stop visiting this blog.
This week’s Killing Time video highlights the real cost of venison per pound. And like the man says, his grand total of $8,200 per year in deer hunting expenses doesn’t even include his time—or poker money.
Thankfully, I don’t have to justify the money I spend pursuing whitetails because my wife is an avid deer hunter.
Until next time …
P.S. As for his venison cost of $162 per pound: Do the math and you’ll see his calculation is wrong; 8,200 divided by 50 is 164. See … my 4-year degree wasn’t wasted after all!
