Waterfowl Migration
Hello. I am interested in hearing about what folks are seeing out there during this migration season. What type of birds are flying, where and has anyone had luck hunting.

Seeing just a ton of birds flying west of the Twin Cities. Goose, ducks, snow geese. Today I saw Coots for the first time this migration.

Also, just for viewing, its been a really active few weeks for raptors as well. Have seen a ton of eagles, hawks, kestrels out.

Re: Waterfowl Migration
With the extensive winter we've had up here in Minnesota, I was beginning to wonder if the migration would ever come! My dad has an endless supply of old "farmer tales" as I call them, and one states that spring can't come until the robins return and they "get snow on their backs three times." Yeah, I know. But, I'm ecstatic to report that the robins have indeed been snowed upon three times, so let the north-bound flights begin!

I've seen a lot more light geese than in past years--also west of the Cities. Also a few sandhills and bald eagles.

No Robins this far North yet... I'm about 30 miles NW of Duluth.

My wife said that she saw geese in Cloquet last week. Canadian Honkers.

Re: Waterfowl Migration
Yesterday, we had a huge flock of swans fly over our house, probably about 50-75 birds.

I was in eastern SoDak last weekend (turkey hunting w/bow) and can tell you the duck population (all species) appears to be super strong. I also saw lots of geese (light and dark) flying north.
