Well, it’s nice to see they added the state forums. As of last night, there weren’t any and I was pretty concerned.
I feel like the first survivor of a shipwreck who has crawled to shore on a deserted island. Now I wait to see if the rest of you make it to shore.
I’ll re-post the info for the 2014 GT soon. Now I have to figure out how to add pics. At this point it looks like we’ll have to host them on a pic hosting site and add in the URL.
The last time they made a change to a new forum format, it took them a while to get everything added in. Hopefully it won’t take too long this time.
Talk to y’all soon,

Ill start gathering the firewood on the island, you work on the shelter. Ive made it to shore. This new site is tough to navigateSeptember 25, 2013 at 11:32 pm #4782
Hey Jon. Glad you made it.
I’ll get to the shelter soon. It’s all about food right now.
After all, don’t I look undernourished?
That reminds me, I wonder when they’ll have the smilies up.
This is about the fourth or fifth forum change I’ve been through, and it’s always a bit rough in the beginning. I think they’ll get it running a bit smoother soon. I just hope the webbies can endure the abuse they’re getting hit with.
This is an edit after the initial post.
FYI – Looks like we have smilies right now if we type the symbols in ourselves. The smiley above is from my typing “colon – dash – right parenthesis”.September 27, 2013 at 6:54 am #4942
Thanks, Steve!! Finally got in with the clubs help after 4 tries!!! Changed my password and name again—wonder how many times this has happened since the 70′s???
God Bless and take care!!

Nice to see you made it. You and “crippledhunter” are two that I know of having problems getting re-registered. After all, you’re a charter member and shouldn’t have these problems. Last I heard, Patrick hadn’t had any success yet.
And by the way, I haven’t forgotten about burning those Waylon Jennings CDs for ya’. Just haven’t gotten there yet.
SteveSeptember 28, 2013 at 3:47 pm #5072
No sweat on the CD’s—know you will send them!! I’m still having trouble getting in with my new (again) password??? A pain in the butt!! Almost feel like giving up.
Take care my friend.

Hi all. Are you all liking this monsoon?September 30, 2013 at 10:50 am #5160
Well, I was finally able to get back in. The new site was a bit of a shock, I had to actually go find an old mail from the Club with a link to get my info to work during registration.October 1, 2013 at 11:32 am #5305
Hey guys. Welcome back.
This monsoon is probably my fourth or fifth changeover here, and this one’s pretty consistent with every other one. A drastically different format that throws a lot of people off, few features we’re accustomed to using from before, some people have trouble re-registering, etc.
No one likes change to begin with, then add in the other factors above and while most people get frustrated, many get down right hostile. I’m sure you’ve seen some of the rather caustic posts elsewhere on these forums.
As happens every time, people eventually adapt to the new format – even those who are “technically challenged”. It just takes a while for some to find their way around.
Whenever they make a change, they initially hold back on implementing a lot of feature like smileys, downloading pictures, quoting a post, email notification of subscribed to posts, maybe a contest they had before, etc. in order to simplify things in the beginning. The webbies will start to add these things in once the dust settles, and that should help a lot of people settle in. Happens every time.
One thing I like already is that while I’m typing my reply I can scroll up and reference previous posts on the page that I’m replying to. My short term memory has never been the best, and I don’t have to worry about incorrectly remembering details about something I’m replying to.
I’m not a big social media guy, but I see they really focused on making that readily accessible here. It makes sense, as that’s the direction on-line communication is going these days. If they had done so on the old format, I hadn’t paid attention to it. Anyway, enough of my blathering on the changeover.
For those of you who know LadyHunt (Kay), please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. A few of you met her briefly for the first time at this year’s GT.
She’s doing OK, but was in the hospital for two weeks and has been in a rehab facility for the past week+ in Lacey. They’re dialing in their treatment for a slight problem with her ticker.
She hasn’t been on these forums for a few years, but I’ll see about getting her back on here when she gets home.
Anyway, I plan to go visit her this afternoon. Andrew (“armypa” here on the forums) asked if he could join me. She’s going stir-crazy there. For those of you who don’t know how energetic she is, it’s like trying to put a mama cougar in a straight jacket.
I hope I didn’t put you all to sleep with such a lengthy post.
Be well all,
SteveOctober 4, 2013 at 7:49 am #5512
Hi ALL, It’s a good thing I can swim, but I’ve made it to shore also. Kay will be in my daily prayers.
Heading up to the cabin (BLUES) next week. Got some nice Muleys up there this year.
Everybody take care, be safe, and God Bless.

Welcome to our little island, and Kay will appreciate the prayers.
She’s home now, and about kissed the floor of her house when she walked in.
Good luck to ya’ on your muley hunt. Please keep us posted on how you do.October 6, 2013 at 11:27 pm #5772
I made it. This new format is kind of slow, but I guess we will adapt. Prayers for Kay and John, I hope everything turns out well for them.
BrandonOctober 8, 2013 at 9:38 pm #5918
Welcome back, Brandon. And my prayers to Pearl as well.
According to an insider on the website, speed was a priority and they tested the heck out of the new format before going on-line with it. Unfortunately it didn’t hold up once they went live with it, and now they’ve been working on it since. That, of course has slowed implementing everything else.

holy crap the rip tides are bad out there, got sucked back out so many times, didn
t think I would make it!! whew!!! I hope this is the last of these so called "upgrades" dont like this 1 much! I hate having to keep signing in everytime!! and all the drop down or pop up screens!! this site is getting worse everytime I come here!! they have already starting to delete my posts!! nothing has changed!!October 17, 2013 at 12:39 pm #7059
Ahhhhhh, you made it. Hopefully you made good use out of my spare ammo cans floating around out there, as they make great floatation devices.
Patrick, you and I both know this won’t be the last change in format before we’re gone. Change is the only constant in our world of constantly evolving technology.
I’ve been here since 2000, and I think this is something like the fourth changeover we’ve had. I’m sure there will be another four or five in the next 13 years we’re here.
Regardless, it’s nice to see the email notifications are working. I got my first one yesterday on the Lifer forum that you posted on.
