My name is Craig Peters. I’m 40% service-connected disabled and would enjoy meeting other hunters / anglers. I live in Nampa, ID. Looking forward to getting out into the woods and rejoining the hunting aspect.November 28, 2013 at 9:17 am #9689
Hello there Craig,I’m Jerry and live in Indiana. I’ve been disabled for 7 years from Neurological problems that started 10 years ago. I don’t get out much anymore and have had to give up hunting some kinds of animals and changed how I hunt some too,but I still manage to get out there a few days a season. Luckily I have my own pond now so fishing isn’t a problem. I hope you can get out there and enjoy what you like to do,there’s a lot of fulfillment in it for guys like us.

HI Craig, don’t know your area but I have had some friends in Idaho and know there is some good hunting and fishing there. One friend Jerry Fergeson (sp) lives 90 mile north of Boise and he has done a bunch of hunting while handicapped.
Me, I saw an orthopedic surgeon recently and have been referred to another for some possible hip surgery. Mine is bone on bone and hurts like the dickens sometimes. When Dr. B. asked it I was interested in surgery, I said that my life is defined more by what I can’t do than what I can, so I am going to see this other guy. Hopefully I will be able to get in and out of my boat easier an maybe able to walk on something less flat than the sidewalk.
Hang in there both of you, AllenJanuary 27, 2014 at 11:32 am #12142

OK who left the door open and let HH in here ? Well property values just went in the dump for sure ! AZAllen I would suggest you get at least 2 opinions and if it is determined that a hip replacement surgery is needed then by all means have it done. Do your research and find the best hip replacement implant and the surgeon to go along with it. I know several who have had this surgery and the first thing they say when asked if it helped is ” I wish I had had it done when I first starting having the pain ! ” as this has become a fairly common surgery that they have pretty much perfected. The best to you should you decide to have it done.February 23, 2014 at 12:46 pm #12896

Hi Craig, My name is Peggy and I live over here in Rigby, ID But my daughter lives in Nampa. I dont get out as much as I like but I have done some pheasant hunting on the WMA outside of Nampa and Twin Falls. Dont get me wrong here but hey I would love to hunt birds with someone who cant get around as well as the rest of the guys. They go off and leave me alot. Thats okay I have my own dog and I get my share of action, its just closer to the truck. Oh I was ran over by a 15 year old kid who passed me on the right as I was making a right hand turn on my bike. Thems the breaks. Pun intended.March 3, 2014 at 9:57 am #13093
Hey me and that Lab are kin don’t you know ? You other fellers need to checkout http://www.everyday-hunter.com as you can find all the LM’s and others that used to be here. IDMooseMan welcome to the Gimps Are Us club of disabled both Veterans and civilians. I myself am a 100% disabled US Army Veteran and have had to be very inventive in order to get back into the woods. Being as I ma a lot like Humpty Dumpty and they can’t put me together again I have to very careful in how I hunt. I no longer hunt off the ground but I have found that the new ground blinds make this a no brainer and in fact is just as much fun as hunting from an elevated stand. I also do a lot of simply sitting at the base of a big tree and I have been successful in killing many deer and hogs. Using both a crossbow as well as a firearm hunting is something that requires just a little more thought and planning but it can be done and you can be just as successful as those who hunt from treestands. I always checkout http://www.sportsmansguide.com when looking for hunting equipment as they have a big selection and usually priced great as well.
