Thanks, Steve. I assume you’re talking about the camo walker one of the smartass young guys gave me at the GT last year following our 2011 WY hunt.
Not this year, as I’m not quite there yet. We’ll see where I’m at for our 2016 WY hunt. I might just need it then, although I haven’t quite figured out how to lock in the front hubs for…[Read more]
Well, our group drew our elk tags for Wyoming this year. Everyone is pretty excited and already starting to plan the details.
One great thing is that a lot of these guys are lifelong friends I made right here on these NAHC forums years ago. In fact two of them were part of the original group who planned our first GT 10 years ago, while…[Read more]
I sold the Marlin .45-70. I listed on armslist.com, and got tons of interest within a few minutes of listing it. I forgot to mention in my listing that it was to be local sales only, and a guy in Illinois loved it and made me a killer offer plus shipping fees.
Anyway, it was exactly what he wanted and he’s thrilled to be getting it. I’m glad…[Read more]
A brick of .22 LR? Heck, that’s worth it’s weight in gold these days. :-( I now have one item up for sale.
I’m selling a Marlin 1895 rifle (full size – not a”Guide Gun”). It’s .45-70 caliber, straight stock, 22″ barrel, folding rear sight in good condition. It was made in 1981, which is before they added the cross-bolt safety (my…[Read more]
Great idea. Unfortunately, I have no need for any of the items you’ve put up for sale at this time.
However… I will be posting something soon for sale myself. I just ended up with two Marlin .45-70s, and will be selling one. Once I decide which one to put up for sale (the straight stocked or pistol grip stocked one), I’ll take…[Read more]
Sounds great and I’m a big advocate of GPS, but I’d have concerns about hunting in areas with no cell coverage.
We had no cell coverage whatsoever in the entire area we hunted in Wyoming in 2011, but our Garmin Rino GPS/Radio units worked well and really came in handy. However, I’ll check out the app for a backup or for areas where I have good…[Read more]
Yeah, no kidding. I just bought two Marlin 1895s in .45-70 here in Vegas (I’ll be selling one when I get back home), and I need to gear up to put some rounds through the one I decide to keep at the GT. The GT will be a great time and place to do so.
I’m glad to hear you had a nice Christmas and a little quiet on your first day back to work.
I had a great day, m’self. My youngest daughter came down from Lynnwood on Monday evening for a few days, and she and her sister spent the morning and had Christmas dinner at my house. Then they went to their mom’s for dessert, and the best part is…[Read more]
You’ll just have to eat up those steaks and roasts, eh? Gee, what a shame you have to make such a sacrifice…
No, we’ll be applying for the general season in WY next year. It’s all we can do to get everyone in our group to commit to a solid two weeks there.
We camp on the border of two adjacent units, and hunt them both. Last time we…[Read more]
Congratulations. Nice to see you got some meat in the freezer.
Didn’t get out this year. We were expecting to draw our WY elk tags and didn’t, and I wasn’t able to get out locally this year. Hopefully, we’ll draw in January for next fall.

I’ve still got a number of friends down there, and none of them have heard anything about it (I was born & raised in Thousand Oaks in Ventura Co.). My friends in northern CA haven’t heard anything either.
Are the recall efforts getting much media coverage?

Good job there. Now let’s see if they do anything with it.

Nice to see.
I hope that as people begin speaking out about the recent unreasonable gun laws that have been passed, it emboldens others to start taking action against it. We’ve talked about it on other threads about how about how even attempting recalls of these lawmakers sends a message to others. Hopefully proposals such as this from Senator…[Read more]
Those are great. I think I’ll order a few and put one on my range bag and maybe a vest I can wear to the range. If you hear of a window sticker, I’ll put one of those on the rear window of my pickup canopy too.
I live in WA state, but use the SAFE Act as well as the recent CO legislation and recalls as examples of why we need to pay close…[Read more]
If you have a smart phone and find a sound on the internet you’d like to use, I can likely help you out.
A) Send me a link to the sound you’d like to use in a PM. If it’s longer than 30 seconds or so, be sure to let me know what part of it you’d like to use.
B) With a program I have on my PC I can “record” any audio playing on my PC…[Read more]

I hadn’t heard about this one. I need to check with some friends down there to see what they’ve been hearing about it locally.
You’ve both made good points. For a state so bold on gun/people control as to recently outlaw lead bullets for hunting, I’d think the chances of successful recalls would be pretty slim.
As gjeffrys stated, just…[Read more]
Too bad about the New York forum. I haven’t looked recently, but I hope things pick up there.
I enjoyed the ongoing conversation we had there on the SAFE Act, even as an out-of-stater. Let’s hope things like the CO senators being recalled and other cases of citizens pushing back against the gun-grabbers helps your cause out…[Read more]
