The All-Star break is over and tonight all 30 baseball teams will begin the second half of their seasons. The statistically worst team, the Rangers, have a win percentage of .400 and are 21 games behind the AL West leading A's. However, despite the poor performance heading into the break, Texas is not in position to break any sort of baseball loss records.
The furthest back a team has ever finished is 84 games, which happened to the Cleveland Spiders in 1899 who managed just 20 wins and 134 losses. The modern era numbers are not quite as staggering, but there have been some historically dreadful seasons. 50 years ago, one unfortunate squad managed to win just 25% of their games en route to setting a recent record for finishing the most games out of first place.
